Anglo Arab Organization participates in funding internet project to promote better understanding between nations.
LONDON & PARIS - The Anglo Arab Organization (AAO) announced that it will participate in funding the development of a new internet based section of the American Library in Paris as part of its aim to "build bridges between nations to help promote better understanding."
The AAO is a voluntary non profit making body that was founded in 2002 by its president Mr. Nadhmi Auchi. As part of its objective to build bridges between nations, the AAO aims to extend and further develop the existing relations between the Western and the Arab world, and to provide citizens of each of these regions with a greater understanding and appreciation of each other.
The donation campaign initiated by the Library will build a vast archive of material that focuses on history, culture and, above all, diplomatic relationships between nations which date back to 1917 when the library was first established. This information will be readily available to readers and scholars alike via the internet. With the help and support of the AAO, the American Library in Paris hopes to expand its archive, and bring answers to its community.
"We think that the AAO's contribution in funding this important project will enable people around the world to have access to a special collection of diplomatic documents of immense historical value," said Mr. Nadhmi Auchi.
"Reading such a collection of documents will provide a better understanding among all citizens of how western countries conduct their diplomacy within the context of history, culture and politics. In addition, it will provide knowledge and better understanding to the citizens and decision makers of the relationship between East and West, and activate cooperation among nations in the future," he added.
The American Library in Paris has many internationally renowned personalities among its advisors, patrons, speakers and donors, including Raymond Poincaré, the former French Prime Minister, Samuel Beckett, the famous British playwriter, Marlene Diectrich the actress and singer, Emest Hemmingway, the famous American author and Nobel Prize laureate, to name but a few.
