His Excellency Mr Adnan Kassar

His Excellency Mr Adnan Kassar was appointed to the Committee of Patrons of the Anglo-Arab Organisation in January 2003.

He was educated at the Université Saint Joseph in Beirut where he graduated in Law in 1951. Today Mr Kassar is a highly respected figure both in the public and private sector of Lebanon.

Between 1999 and 2000, Mr Kassar was the first Arab personality who presided over the International Chamber of Commerce and was appointed member of its Presidency Board. Mr Kassar is also President of the Federation of Lebanese Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture; Vice-Chairman of the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for the Arab Countries; Vice-President of the Franco-Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and member of The Arab-British and Franco-Arab Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to his wide public involvement, Mr Kassar is also a prominent business figure in Lebanon. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of FRANSABANK SAL, one of the leading banks in Lebanon and also manages FRANSABANK (FRANCE) SA and FRANSA HOLDING (LEBANON) SAL. Mr Kassar also chairs the A.A.KASSAR trading company, operating in France, Hungary, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cuba and is a shareholder in several major real estate developments.

Mr Adnan Kassar has been bestowed a number of decorations including Officier de l'Ordre National du Cèdre (Lebanon), Officier de la Lègion d'Honneur (France), Officier de l'Ordre National du Mérite (France), Commander of the Order of Merit (Italy), Commandeur de l'Ordre de la Pléiade (Association des Perlementaires Francophones) and Priz de la Fondation 2000 (Crans Montana Forum).

He is the former Minister of Trade and Economics in Lebanon.
